• Nathaniel Lyon State Park –★★– <1 mile – Preserved chimney of the first general to die in the Civil War, with access to the Natchaug Trail and a backpacking campsite

  • Natchaug Trail: Morey Road –★★– 1 mile – A narrow trail with tiny cascades leading into the state forest
  • Natchaug State Forest –★★★– 1 mile – Past beaver marsh towards the river with a backpacking lean-to campsite near Nathianel Lyon State Park

Eastford was originally the east parish of Ashford until it was incorporated in May 1847 from lands in Ashford making it the 145 oldest town in Connecticut.
