• Boston Turnpike Trail –★★★– 1.6 miles – A surprisingly nice hike on this section of the Old Connecticut Path
• Crystal Pond Park –★★★– 2.5 miles – Hiking trails and a section of the Old Connecticut Path along the pond amidst a disc golf course
• George Askew Nature Trail – 1 mile trail behind the elementary school ball fields down to the Still River

• Bigelow Brook Wildlife Area – Adjacent to Natchaug State Forest parcel
• Natchaug State Forest –★★★– 16 miles – Huge forest along the Natchaug River with hiking, swimming, and horse trail options
• Nathaniel Lyon State Park –★★– <1 mile – Preserved chimney of the first general to die in the Civil War, with access to the Natchaug Trail and a backpacking campsite

Blue Blaze

• Natchaug Trail
  • Natchaug Trail: Morey Road –★★– 1 mile – A narrow trail with tiny cascades leading into the state forest
  • Natchaug State Forest –★★★– 1 mile – Past beaver marsh towards the river with a backpacking lean-to campsite near Nathianel Lyon State Park
  • Natchaug Trail: Lyon Rd –★★★– 8 miles – Remote feeling stretch of trail until the Rt 198 road walk

The Rest

• Yale Forest Camp –★★– 2+ miles – Part of Yale Myers Forest there are mill ruins, the modern camp, and hidden structures in the woods

Eastford was originally the east parish of Ashford until it was incorporated in May 1847 from lands in Ashford making it the 145 oldest town in Connecticut.
