Walker’s Reservoir is split into East and West reservoirs divided by Reservoir Rd.
This guide is dedicated more to East section though its worth mentioning the blue blaze Shenipsit Trail does run along the western reservoir and can be used as an alternate hike from here.
The eastern reservoir is Vernon’s natural area and open space with room for 25+ cars along Reservoir Rd. The yellow blazed trail is 1/3 road walk starting in either direction from the parking area along the guardrails on Reservoir Rd. The other 2/3 loop around the far side of the pond.
The trail is pretty simple following the bank of the pond to the opposite side where there are benches along the water, a rock dam, and a pine grove before returning to the parking area along Rt. 31/Reservoir Rd.
The road walk is also a portion of the Shenipsit Trail though at Rt. 31 the Shenipsit turns left and the yellow loop turns right.
Shenipsit Previous Section: Tankerhoosen WMA
Shenipsit Next Section: 0.5 mile road walk to Gage’s Brook Section (unexplored)
