There is indeed an old trail off Niles Road, perhaps and an old driveway or abandoned stretch of road. Near a turn in the road a wide level path heads off into the woods passing enormous uprooted stumps and old cedar fence posts. Off to the left is an expansive swamp and the right is a tall hump of sandy soil. The trail is clear and easy to follow though unblazed. I walked to the end where the trail got dense and one final fallen tree before what appeared to be someone’s backyard. I walked back and forth in this stretch to find the “simple unmarked path around pond to Pepperbush Drive” but couldn’t even find a hint of trail.
I walked back out the way I came in and drove over to Pepperbush Drive to see if I could catch the path where it comes out on that road. There is an appropriate patch of woods here, but again no evidence of the unmarked path.
