Dunham Woods
17 acres in Mansfield, CT
Parking: Shoulder parking near 255 S Eagleville Rd Storrs, CT
Trail Map Trails: Less than a mile Rating: ★★☆☆☆
Dunham Woods is a short lollipop loop that crosses a boardwalk into the forest near Dunham Pond. Recent stewardship from a trail crew has reopened a bit of a view to the pond from the rock and sitting bench mid-trail.
The rock has plaque dedicating the area to Carrick McLaughlin.
The backside of the loop has a connection to Dunhamtown Forest for an additional 3 miles of hiking trails. There are also newish connector trails to the Glen Ridge Housing.
Owen’s Mere, another Joshua’s Trust property, is a short distance from the parking area across South Eagleville Road. I find it hard to suggest it as an add on to this hike given how busy the South Eagleville road walk could be.
History:
Preserved in 1987.
