Trail Map        Trails: 1.7 miles        Rating: ★★☆☆☆

The Blackledge River Greenway Trail starts at the back of the field behind the parking area.  There is a curious ‘Insect Hotel’ at the back of the field as well built by local Boy Scouts.

The trail is a fairly flat crushed stone path nestled between the marshy river and private property.  A side trail leads back towards West Road which provides access to locals coming from South Buckboard Lane.  Well built bridges cross feeder streams and on my December hike you could easily see the Christmas trees of the nearby houses which can be a pro or con depending on how you look at it.  It appears some version of the trail used to cross the river evidenced by a collapsed bridge at a small gap in the thicket along the water’s edge.

After just over a half mile the crushed stone gives way to true trail and less houses.  The trail continues for over a mile passing through a pine grove until reaching North Parker Road with an option to head into a parcel of the Salmon River State Forest.

History:

Established officially sometime around 2010, though I imagine the trail has existed in some form for longer.  The trail was improved either in 2011 or 2014.
