NOTE: Flooding has affected these trails, making section difficult to access without getting your feet wet

This is a combined entry for both the Bradley-Buchanan Woods and Pond Lot.  Both are small properties and both unfortunately have been pretty heavily affected by recent heavy rains and busy beavers.  While the properties can be combined for longer hikes Echo Lake and the surrounding marshes have been flooding regularly wiping out access to the trails and the connections between properties.

The main bridge/boardwalk was rebuilt and expanded in 2020 but is already inadequate for current water levels.  The small beach that used to be at the Pond Lot off Echo Road is flooded and inaccessible.

You can still hike down Cemetary Road to access Echo Woods (formerly a Joshua’s Trust property but now part of Mansfield Hollow) for a nice short hike or connect to Hollow trail.

The area is important for preserving a rare geologic area called a pitted kame terrace which is a combination of esker type glacial hills dotted by kettle hole pools and swales.

History:

Preserved in 1970 and 1986. Bradley-Buchanan Woods was sold to Joshua’s Trust by Wesley Bradley.  Pond Lot was donated by Hugh and Betsey Hamill.
