Hiking
There is a 2 mile loop trail around the edge of the pond starting from either side of the boat launch. Well established and easy to follow the loop is occasionally blazed with green or yellow circles. The hike was fairly level and easy with only a couple wet areas despite recent rains.
There are a number of clearings along the water’s edge particularly along the western side that each seem to have a fire pit, bench, and potential rope swing.
Quinebaug Lake is 87.6 acres and is also known as the Wauregan Reservoir. It has a dedicated boat launch with a dirt ramp and space for about 12 vehicles. Internal combustion engines are prohibited.
There are likely a couple fisherman paths along the water. As a Bass Management Lake there is a daily limit of 2 with a 16″ minimum. Catfish were first stocked here in 2012.
Species include: Large Mouth Bass, Trout, Chain pickeral, Sunfish, Yellow Perch, and Channel Catfish
History:
Established as a state park in 1964.
