Trail Map Trails: 2.25 miles Rating: ★★☆☆☆
The Dean Easement is closed to the public from November 1 through December, except on Sundays.
From the parking at the end of Parker Rd the trail heads downhill on the highly eroded remains of unimproved Parker Rd. In sections the trail/road is a stream and requires rock hopping. The trail then turns off into the woods at a large Dean Easement sign and heads uphill until reaching a purple connector trail to the East Haddam Land Trust Hatch Lot. The purple trail leads directly to the overlook and is a great short addition.
Continuing on the orange trail passes another white connector to the Hatch Lot and over a knoll to a small stream. This section was particularly overgrown and likely more grown in summer. For the next 1.5 miles the trail meanders through the forest passing the occasional rock outcrop and old farm roads. The last quarter mile passes small fields that are likely active agriculture. The trail then rejoins Parker Rd and a short gravel road walk between a farm on one side and fancy houses on the other back to the original parking.
