Trail Map      Trails: 5 miles        Rating: ★★★★★

I’d rank the Compounce Ridge area for most cascades per square mile, but it has been a pretty wet summer so maybe I just got lucky.  The majority of the property is owned by Compounce Park but contains a fair amount of trails that cross into town owned land and a section of the blue blaze Tunxis Trail for fantastic views east.

Hiking

The trail starts almost hidden at the end of the cul-de-sac on Panthorn Trail.  It briefly descends to a tiny brook with a view of broad rock faces and an unnamed cascade. This is the Steep Climb Trail which delivers on its name climbing past these large rock formations up to the Compounce Ridge.
