Boating

Pattaconk Reservoir is 56 acres with a carry-in boat launch from the main Pattaconk Reservoir parking area.

The rules are 8 MPH limit, no water-skiing. Use of internal combustion engines prohibited during July and August.

Camping

This section of the state forest has youth camping areas on the east side of the reservoir.

History:

‘Cockaponset’ is the name of an Indian chief, who’s buried in the Ponset section of Haddam

The name ‘Pattaconk’ comes from a Native American language meaning “round” or “wigwam-shaped hill.”
