Just across the road from the Bafflin Sanctuary parking area is the tiny Wright Preserve. Largely active farm fields there is a very short loop trail here through the woods.
There is a mowed path between the meadow and the cornfield which then enters a gap in the trees and climbs a small hill. The terrain here is interesting with quick up and downs like mini eskers. On so short a trail there isn’t really much to note, near the end of the loop it passes the backside of private property and then rejoins the edge of the cornfield.
The lower meadow also has a mowed path and I watched a group of crows hassle a hawk to leave the area.
From the Wyndham Land Trust site,
“The preserve has varied habitats including flooded forest, a hay field, and an old field full of wildflowers. A young forest has reclaimed old gravel operation. The hay filed is mowed after July 15 each year to allow grassland birds to finish their nesting. Two wildlife food plots, sunflower and sorghum, are planted in the old field each spring. The southern boundary is formed by an 800-foot long stretch of the Mashmoquet Brook.”

Protected since 1980 when it was donated by Ann A. Wright.
