I started from the Kendall Road Trail Head South in the new parking lot cleared in September of 2019.  The red trail heads off in either direction at a kiosk explaining the history of the area.  The trail is wide and clear often with a thick layer of wood chips.  The trail is surrounded by ferns for an open understory beneath the trees.

Not too long after the North Trail head were a couple dry seasonal stream crossings with unique block bridges.  There was also an awkward intersection where all three directions are blazed with red.  I assumed I was mistaken and that the orange trail connected here too, but I didn’t follow it to check.

I took the blue blazed Puppy Hill Lane down past the Butterfly Garden to the actual Tavern.  The tavern has been undergoing restoration since at least 2017 and progress seems to be understandably slow.

The rest of the red loop was casual meandering through the forest back to the parking area.
