This park preserves a piece of American history maintaining the earth fortifications of Fort Griswold.  The property also has the Groton Monument and the Monument House museum.  Down the hill from the fort are shot furnace, lower battery fortifications, as well as the Ebenezer Avery House. 

The park is a stop on the Thames River Heritage Park Water Taxi.

History:

Established as a park in 1953 it is the site of a Revolutionary War massacre led by Benedict Arnold.

It was designated a State Archaeological Preserve in October 2006.
