Tolland ‘Senior Park’ features a pollinator garden, labyrinth, ADA compliant trail, and an old silo.
This isn’t a hiking location, this is an short and easy strolling spot geared towards the senior community. Right off the parking area is a pollinator garden as well as a labyrinth with a sundial clock. The flat packed path heads slightly uphill to meet the handsomely built bridge over Charter Brook. There is a guide wire down to an old farm silo with pipes hanging which can be tapped as you walk down to produce a melody.
From the bridge you can also take the path up to the top of the property to Nell’s Knoll for a small seating area overlooking the open meadows of the park.
The property was acquired by the Town of Tolland in December 2000 when it was donated by Helen Wanat who stipulated that the property must serve the senior community. The park had its official opening in October 2024.
