Starting from the back corner of the Al-Noor Islamic Center next to what is currently Flavors of Nawab. The trail meets right up with the river in a nice open area along the water with a bench. Climb a couple steps, cross a bridge, and you stay with the water’s edge the rest of the time. It’s peaceful and beautiful along the stretch and is definitely a great short walk option for locals.
The later stretches still follow the river but are clearly also used by farm equipment from the adjacent fields. About 0.6 miles out the trail opens to the side of those fields and the path along the water is blocked by a couple of trailers. You can walk along the edge of the field to reach Lower Butcher Road, but I didn’t find it worthwhile so turned around to retrace my steps to the car.
