The ‘Old Connecticut Path’ ran nearly 100 miles from outside Boston to Hartford, Windsor and Wethersfield in Connecticut. Originally a Native American trail that was later widened by colonists. At least one major road still follows the path as Rt. 126/Old Connecticut Path in Massachusetts between Rt. 9 and Rt. 20. Many other sections are preserved as old woods roads or current hiking trails.
It has also been known as the ‘The Great Trail of New England’ and the ‘Hooker Trail’.
Jason Newton is the expert on the path undertaking a project to follow its length its length in 2011-12.
