Pomfret Forest has clearly been a labor of love to build one of the best new mountain bike areas around.  Over 1,200 hours of work have gone into crafting these trails and it shows down to the little details. Loops are interesting, features are well placed, and I even came across a tree stump that had been flattened to the ground and cut with a grid pattern to prevent slipping.

Hiking

While I wouldn’t recommend for hiking given the mountain bike style trails, I did hike the Loop de Loop Trail as I explored the adjacent Kimball Memorial Forest and it gave me a taste of the investment into the property.  The trails here would make a great extension for those coming from Pomfret Rec Park or just hopping off the Air Line Trail.

Mountain Biking

Guaranteed this is the new hot spot for mountain biking in the area.  Miles of well crafted trails, interesting features, and options to extend your riding on either side of the park.
