This is a partial/incomplete listing as I have not yet explored Arnold E. Holm Jr. Memoral Park
The park has previously been known as Civic Triangle or Duck Pond, but was renamed for Arnold Holm Jr in 2013. It was renovated in 2023 for about $2 million to be ADA compliant.
Army Capt. Arnold E. Holm Jr. — “Dusty,” as his comrades called him — was shot down in Vietnam in June 11, 1972. It took 34 years to locate the crash site and two more years before it was excavated in an effort to recover his and his two crewmen, Pfc. Wayne Bibbs and Spc. Robin Yeakley remains. He was buried with military honors in November 2011 at Arlington National Cemetery. On the plaque in his honor at the park is a quote from Holm written in a 1962 Waterford High School newsletter: “I swam to the horizon to find that I have yet to begin.”
