This tiny trail appears to be loved by locals on the shores of Lake Pocotopaug with well worn trails, this is likely a quick walk for anyone with a house nearby.
Hiking
From the small pull off across from 33 Bay Road, the trail splits on either side of the parking lot. I chose to head right climbing slightly uphill through open forest. There is a fair amount of private property around and unblazed trails head off in the direction of each house.
I did briefly follow one as it headed off towards Lake Drive, but quickly turned back. As the blazed trail turns along the property line it narrows over a tiny hill and descends into a small mountain laurel grove. Certainly a nice touch by the trail designers. The trail dumps you onto the yellow trail a flat and very wet quarter mile between Lake Drive and Bay Road. I hiked it out and back, but much of it was a stream due all our recent rains, it mostly serves for access to the loop.
The loop quickly completes up a gradual hill back to parking area.

The land trust acquired the property in June 2001.
