A very short loop trail, that may be overgrown, leads to a bench with marshy view of the Shunock River.
I tacked this hike into my exploration of Hewitt Farm crossing the dirt Hewitt Road to head out on red blazed trail. Though recently trailed the property was already a bit overgrown but entirely passable. It is only a quarter mile long so there wasn't much to see with thick understory along most of the northern side.
The backside of the loop has a bench with an obstructed view of a marshy stretch of the Shunock River. The trail then returns along the border of the property back to the entrance. The trail was a nice surprise add in to my Hewitt hike but not much here to seek out.
Preserved in 2023 when it was transferred from the Estate of Mary B. Cooper. Mary and Richard Cooper had both been long-time supporters of Avalonia, with Richard passing away in 2018 and Mary in 2021.
The preserve had its grand opening September 7th, 2024.
