Mianus River is a partial/incomplete page as I have not yet explored this property.
Mianus River State Park is a confusing one to untangle. There is a Mianus River Scenic Reserve, a Mianus River State Park, a Mianus River Park (Stamford), and a Mianus River and Natural Park (Greenwich). The latter three are one contiguous park while the scenic reserve is located about two miles north.
Mianus River Park (the three contiguous parks) is about 370 acres with at least ten miles of both marked and unmarked trails. The park is popular and has limited parking for such a wide offering of trails that accommodate both horses and mountain bikes. The New England Mountain Bike Association has a loop called the Mianus Maze that is ranked the seventh best ride in the state.
The scenic reserve section seems to be about 240 acres (though that doesn’t add up to the 527 acres listed on the DEEP site). There may be some access near 2 Howard Rd in Stamford, though the area is unexplored at this time.
History:
Established as a state park in 2001. A 94 acre section is known as Treetops, the former estate of actress Libby Holman.
