Route 101 Boat Launch

Quinebaug River Boat Launch

Trail Map       Trails: None       Rating: ★☆☆☆☆

The boat launch is owned by Eversouce as a utility corridor but they allow the Pomfret Conservation Commission to maintain this well situated boat launch.  The launch is a series of steps with a carry of about 100 feet.  The stretch of the Quinebaug River is nice and flat.

This is a popular take-out for the 5.9 mile paddle down from Putnam so you can paddle the river north as far as you want depending on the strength of the current.

Paddling downstream however only gets you about 0.6 miles until you reach the Rogers Dam.  I don’t believe an official portage has been made but there is an informal path for paddlers who do want to continue downstream. Do not try to paddle over the dam.

Beyond the dam is a 4.5 mile winding paddle down to Brooklyn’s Riverside Park.
