Trail Map

This is a partial/incomplete listing as I have not yet explored the Hellgate section of the Pequot Trail.

From the CFPA site,

Near the northern terminus, the trail follows and crisscrosses power lines in a few places. Soaring hawks are often seen above a pair of beaver-inhabited wetland ponds that surround a small rock ridge.

History:

The CFPA site mentions a mysterious historical area called Hellgate and says that nearby land deeds can be traced back to ownership by the Mohegan Sachem Uncas.   A quick search turns up nothing other than Hellgate Farm so I don’t have anything more about this bit of folklore yet.
