  • Pigeon Swamp Preserve –★★– 2.6 miles – Named for the passenger pigeons who once roosted here, it is a great short walk that highlights Great Pond, marsh views, and the cellar holes and mill ruins from its past.

• Lake Williams State Park –★★– 0.25 miles – There is a short trail along the water, but is mainly a boat launch
• Mooween State Park –★★★– 11 miles – More popular for mountain biking than for hiking, contains the ruins of the former camp
• Pease Brook WMA –★– 1 mile – Not much to see or hike and no access to Pease Brook on my last visit
• Pomeroy State Park –★– No trails – An undeveloped ‘scenic reserve’ state park
• Bartlett Brook WMA –★★– 2.5 miles – Wide trails loop around old fields split by Exeter Brook

Blue Blaze

• Whitney Forest –★★– 1.5 miles – The Hibbard loop trail circles this recently managed forest

The Rest

• Five Mile Rock – Unclear whether this is private property or visiting the rock is ok at this time

• Lake Williams State Park – Large lake to explore with private islands
• Moween State Park – Red Cedar Lake has a small boat launch just off the parking area

• Moween State Park – 11 miles of flowing singletrack

Lebanon was named in 1697 for Lebanon in Syria, the word comes from the Hebrew word ‘laban’ meaning white and Lebanon meaning white mountain (which isn’t characteristic of the landscape at all).  The town was officially incorporated in October 1700, making it the 36th oldest town in the state.
